General Description

The LP28053A is a complete constant-current/constant voltage linear charger for single celllithium-ion battery. Its ESOP8 package and lowexternal component count make the LP28053A ideallysuited for portable applications. No external senseresistor is needed, and no blocking diode is requireddue to the internal MOSFET architecture. Thermalfeedback regulates the charge current to limit the dietemperature during high power operation or highambient temperature. The charge voltage is fixed at4.2V/4.4V, and the charge current can be ISETprogrammed externally with a single resistor.

The LP28053A automatically terminates the chargecycle when the charge current drops to 1/10 settingcurrent value after the final float voltage is reached.When the input supply is removed, the LP28053Aautomatically enters a low current state, dropping thebattery drain current to less than < 1μA.

Other features include charge current monitor, undervoltage lockout, automatic recharge and a status pin.
